HOMEWARD BOUND

Sunday 17th May 2009
Yesterday was quite a day. After updating my blog and waiting in the departure lounge, boarding minutes away I heard an announcement asking for Janine Turner to make herself known to the staff immediately. After presenting myself at the desk I was asked to go and get the keys for my suitcase and passport and to follow them.......... well I was taken downstairs out to the runway where all the luggage was waiting to be put on the planes and there sitting on a table all by itself was my case!
It is interesting the thoughts that go through your head and with slightly shaking hands I unlock the padlocks after the wrapping has been cut off with a knife none too gently. I knew I didn't have anything in my luggage that they would be interested in (or I should say not that I knew off) but with a Security Police Officer searching my luggage it does make you nervous. Keeping up my positive visualisation, all was OK but it did make me realise just how easy it is for people to be taken away from their loved without them having any idea of what is happening. Thankfully my experience was over and done within 10mins and I was back in the Departure Lounge with Paul just as the last people were boarding the plane. Interestingly several people were taken off the plane and then brought back on (some in tears) whilst we were waiting for takeoff so I have no idea what was happening. Thankfully for us, the the rest of the journey was uneventful and we arrived safely in L.A. What really amazed me though was my suitcase not only arrived safely in L.A (I did wonder if it actually got on the plane) but it had been re-wrapped for the journey. So here we are after a good sleep, a shower and some food waiting around until it is time to go to the airport again for our flight at 21.00. Paul is just about to have a lesson with Nick and I am heading off to the local Shopping Centre to see if I can find some "George Dickle" bourbon for Craig and Cheryl. We have been to every liquor place we have found and nobody as yet has heard of it - personally I don't think it exists!!
