VILCABAMBA

Wednesday 6th May 2009 - Day 3
We both woke up very early this morning (before light) and then listened to all the wildlife and domesticated life wake up around us - birds, roosters, cows.......... and all very noisy!! Breakfast is included so we wandered down around 8.30am to find a delicious assortment awaiting us. Muesli, yoghurt, fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice, crepes, and freshly baked bread with butter and jam. After breakfast we headed off on a walk into town which is about 20mins downhill all the way which means a nice long uphill walk on the way back - we will certainly be getting our exercise! Yesterday's impression of Ecuador wasn't that great but it is growing on us today - no doubt seeing the place after a good sleep makes a huge difference. The town square in Vilcabamba is quite quaint. Whilst looking around town we met an American girl who is married to a guy from Peru and they travel around South America selling the jewelery he makes which is very nice. So back up the hill we set and I must say it is quite some hill........a small rest to recover from the walk (we have a hammock on the balcony of our room which is very inviting) and then a delicious lunch. After lunch we got out the computers and spent most of the afternoon on them - Paul doing his trading and me, well finally I have updated my blog which is now completely up to date minus the photo's as I couldn't upload them - will try again tomorrow. We organised the trip so we had a couple of days to get over jetlag etc before starting the conference so it has been a very relaxing day for us. After dinner and a glass of wine we retreated back to our room and it was another early night. I think all the fresh air, exercise and the glass of wine made for a very tired Janine.
