Farmers Markets, Roadside stalls and lots of cooking
This weekend we headed off to one of the local(ish) Farmers Markets but much to our surprise there weren't any fruit or vegies being sold or rather not much of any significance. I think I saw a stall with oranges and one with garlic....... very strange for a Farmers Market I must say!
Anyway heading back home we decided to stop at a roadside stall we had seen on our way out and where there was disappointment in the Farmers Market, it had now been replaced with excitement. This little stall was selling just about every fruit or vegie that was in season and all from a local farm including organic options - we were totally amazed but thrilled.
So homeward bound we went with our boot full of fresh healthy vegies at a fraction of the price we would normally have paid. Upon arrival at home, set forth a hype of activity on the cooking front with beetroot simmering away on the stove and keeping it company a huge pot of pumpkin soup - some for dinner and some bound for the freezer. Paul also put on a vegie stew for tomorrow nights dinner - yummy!
