Our journey North begins

Tomorrow morning we set off on our trek North so although I hope to post some updates in the next week it may not be possible or I may not get the time.  I will be back as soon as possible though so until then I leave you with some photo's of last night.

Last night we each chose 2 stones from the garden and dug a hole to bury them.  Whilst holding the first stone we each thought about what we want to leave behind from our past year and then put it into the hole.  For the 2nd stone, we each thought about what we wanted to greet and bring into the new year of 2010 and then put that into the same hole.  The hole was then filled in.  I read about this tradition on a blog somewhere and for the life of me I cannot remember where so I do apologise for not giving credit where it is warranted - I just don't have the time to go searching.

I thought this was a lovely way to say goodbye to the present year and  to greet a whole new year that beholds so many fun and exciting things for us.

Paul and I later sat with our feet in the pool, glass of champagne contemplating the past year and welcoming the new.  The evening was hot with a storm brewing and the sky was quite amazing.  It was just beautiful sitting outside in the quiet of the evening with the sounds of the birds and the storm brewing.  It was perfect for us this year as we wanted a very quiet evening and it was.

I was going to give you a photo highlight of our last year but sleep beckons me so I will hold that for when I come back.

Stay safe
and Happy New Year to you all.
