A "witchy" finish to our week

After not being completely 100% for a little while, Jordan is now totally back to his old self, healthy, energetic, eating lots again and noisy - oh how noisy he can be. It isn't that he particularly yells (although at times he does), it is just he is singing or making noise all the time and I had forgotten just how constant it is although I wouldn't change it for the world, I love this beautiful little explorer of mine and I am so happy he is back to being himself again.
So with Jordan full of beans, what a fun week we have had - lots of colour, puzzles, cooking and even some adventures for ABC Teddy but best of all was our witchy finish to the week.

Start with Red, Yellow and Blue (well sort of !)

Red + Yellow = Orange

Red + Blue = Purple

Mix them all together and you get "Brown"

Continuing with our colour theme, I thought I would get natural food colourings to do the above experiment but unfortunately the blue was more like black!! We had fun anyway and it sort of worked. I think I will have to get a proper blue and do it again
.

Last week I made some colour cards which I love so this week I decided to make a little pouch for them to live in. I wanted the pouch to be appropriate to colour and came up with the idea of attaching some coloured circles to the front. I am especially proud of the colour circles because I zig zagged them onto the front of the pouch and I have never attempted this before.
The other project I finished this week was a little cloth. The Practical Life area was in need of a little cloth for wiping up spills and rather than just buy one I decided to make one in Jordan's favourite colour "red" of course.
This weeks Practical Life exercise (Pouring water from the jug into the cup)
There have also been a lot of puzzles worked on this week.

I really love the "Under the Sea" puzzle as after completing the puzzle it then has "Who am I" questions to answer which are the little white cards on certain parts of the puzzle.

We have been working on a birthday present for a special friend this week (I haven't posted it yet so I can't put a photo up yet) and when Jordan spotted the cardboard edges from the canvas this is what he came up with - 4 little triangles become 1 big triangle.

ABC Teddy must have been feeling a little hungry this day because this is where I found him - in the pantry!

Whilst we are talking about tummy's - these were a huge hit.

Jordan wanted me to cook sausage rolls (one of his favourite foods) so I got to thinking why not vegetable sausage rolls. I made a flaky pastry (another first for this week) and then cooked up some pumpkin, potato, zucchini, carrot, broccoli and cauliflower. Mashed them all together then added some spices and a little sweet chili sauce. I think I cooked about 18 plus 2 with leftover apples and this is all that was left after dinner. It will definitely be on the menu next week and I think I actually prefer making flaky pastry rather than shortcrust even though it is supposed to be harder which is why I have avoided it until now. Its really not that hard. And for a wonderful finish to our week, we made a pop-up witch. I found this fantastic book at the library on Monday called "My Puppet Art Class - Creative fun for little hands" so we have been planning this project since then and Oh what fun we had doing it.
