PIRATE QUILT
Finished at last!
I know Jordan didn't mind, in fact when he received it "not quite finished", he so lovingly told me
"I love it exactly as it is - you don't need to finish it Mummy"
As precious as that was, and although it still did the job with and frayed edges and the hand stitching still in place, I have been thinking constantly about finishing the edges.
Once the decision was made, it didn't actually take that long to do and it wasn't anywhere near as fiddly as I expected. Edges were trimmed, binding in place and voila!
I have to say it makes a huge difference with the binding, it just finishes it off nicely.
This is my first attempt at a large quilt (I made a small cot quilt when I was pregnant) and I am so pleased with it. I learnt so much and really enjoyed making it but best of all, Jordan loves it.
Yay, i can see this post now! You did a fab job on the quilt. Isn't it awful how time gets away and projects get put onto the back burner. I am still yet to start that baby quilt.... and the baby blessing is tomorrow. I still plan to give it as a gift then. Better get moving!
ReplyDeleteWow Janine, you've been very busy! The quilt looks great. Don't worry, my m-i-l gave me a cross stitch before Kees was born and although I worked on it heaps while he was inside, I still haven't finished it. But that's okay, it
