OUR MAGICAL ADVENTURE - Day 20

Monday 6th April 2009 - Teton Valley to Garden City, Utah
As soon as Jordan woke up this morning he wanted to go out and play in the snow. We have never actually stayed anywhere with snow this thick so whilst we were getting breakfast we let Jordan go out and play. What I didn't realise was he didn't have any gloves on and had gone outside in his slippers!!! After 20 mins or so he came in crying because his hands were so cold and were really really hurting. This however has not deterred his love of the snow and once warm again was ready for some more! Today we are heading into the Grand Teton National Park and passed through a gorgeous little town called Jackson in Wyoming. The town doesnt appear to be affected too much by the economy and no sign of deserted housing as has been the case in most towns. The town itself reminds me a a bustling little ski village which it is to some degree. There appear to be lots of Ranches surrounding the area and it has an aura of prosperity about it. Stopping off to buy some groceries we were delighted to find quite a large selection of organic produce and products. It really is a gorgeous little town and I think it has just become Paul and my favourite although that has been changing on a daily basis. I would like to come back and spend more time here as well though. Heading up into Teton National Park we saw some more amazing scenery and stopped for some snow play which once again turned into boys against girl......... mummy is really quite over "snow" and "snowballs" and soon wandered out of the boys throwing range to have her own snow fun. Lunch with a view was also spent at this delightful little wayside stop before packing up and heading south towards Utah. This afternoon saw us driving through Star Valley and seeing lots of elks foraging on snow covered pastures then following the Snake River Canyon which is another highlight of our trip. The houses we are seeing are of a higher quality and made from beautiful red timbers with lots of big windows looking out to the views. In a delightful town called Afton, Paul spotted a Burger King with a playcentre so we stopped for Jordan to have a play. The playcentre was great, after climbing up several levels you came to a enclosed circular car racing track, up another level and more racing cars then along some tunnels to a fantastic slide back down to ground level. Because there were no other children Jordan wanted me to go up with him and I loved the slide....... The further south we are heading the less and less snow we are seeing although there is a small amount at Bear Lake where we are staying tonight and it is still very very cold. Apparently today is the first day they have not had frozen water and have actually turned the water on for the sites and amenities near our site. I am grateful for this as I have a lot of laundry to do tonight so we can wear some clean clothes tomorrow.
