Thursda y 26th Ma rch 2009 – Crescent City to Wa ldport, Orega n
Toda y we crossed the border from Ca lifornia into Orega n. Whilst stopped a t a lookout, we met a couple from nea r Portla nd , Oregon , who were down in Ca linfornia for the wa rmth. The husba nd wa s a wood ca rver who showed us some of his work (he copies the tra ditiona l style of the loca l na tive America n’s) a nd suggested we visit Nea h Ba y a t the NW tip of Oregon - bea utiful scenery a nd a fa scina ting Museum.
They were a lso telling us tha t a previous Govenor ha d the foresight to designa te the whole of the Orega n coa stline a s a public highwa y so tha t it is a va ila ble for everybody to enjoy and from what we have seen it certainly is breathtaking. It has also resulted in lots of parks and public camping s - pots along the coast.
It is also the Whale Watching period - we kept seeing Whale Watching signs so I am pleased to hear we are here during their migration time so I will certainly be keeping my eyes open for some.
We are very aware that Jordan is spending a lot of time in his carseat so a McDonalds Playground was scheduled into the itinary for him to play off some excess energy. He is getting very confident in making "10 minute" friends as we call them and also learning to adjust his play to different age groups that he is playing with which is an excellent characteristic for him to learn.
After McDonalds, we stopped at the Sea Lion Caves. We needed to go down an elevator which was cut into the rock cliff and went down 200ft to a hugh underground cave which was inhabited by the sea lions. It was also very very smelly!!
This is the double page scrapbook layout I did on the computer
After the Sealions it was on to our KOA for the night which once again was very nice and our site was right near the playground which Jordan was very pleased about.
